There is also a free DASH bus with three routes, one stopping in the Lockwood area. Look at a map to see the area. Spring and President is not safe to be walking along; you're probably OK inside a locked house. Spring and King would be worse. I don't know how guests access the Hyatt property there at the corner when the police are limiting traffic routes.Mt. Pleasant is a nice area. Personally, I would recommend venturing ~5-10 minutes further from downtown and staying in one of the beaches. Folly Beach or Sullivans Island being the closest.
