The blind drills are really where the dog learns about casting. Using the gunner and then the old fall as a diversion to cast off of. Then you take the blind drills to other locations. If you are looking to reduce the odds choose a dog from the time zone with a good record, those dogs are familiar with the fauna, smells, and terrain. If that happens to be a local area dog with a good record then pick that dog. A Master dog must be steady to flush, wing, and shot for 2 birds; complete a "hunt dead" of up to 60 yards; do a 40 yard water blind; and be steady for a 40-50 yard single water mark.
