I'm having a hard time finding ryze viable at all right now, but he is specifically worse after that aggro update. Like many have said, this is actually more manageable top lane. Building glasscanon is counterintuitive. But the little tankiness from Everfrost combined with Seekers gives enough defensive stats to not get oneshot from things.
